In addition to being of interest to gardeners, this book is an insight into the history of the emerging, developing nations of the USA and Canada and also a celebration of how women met and overcame obstacles to achieve equality with men. We all owe them a great deal, but many of the women featured are little known and hardly recognised, which makes this book an overdue opportunity to acknowledge their work and celebrate their achievements.
